There are two ways that I tend to cover a cake, my main preference is with fondant, as you get that perfect professional finish. However the downside is that it’s costly.
The other option is Butter Cream, of Ganache. I have tried these before and this is a good method if you are covering the cake in buttercream roses or like, or you don’t need a perfect finish.
